Joint Task Force Alpha Achieves Significant Results in Combating Human Trafficking | State News

WASHINGTON, DC — Since its establishment in June 2021, Joint Task Force Alpha (JTFA) has made substantial progress in combating human smuggling and human trafficking from Central America and Mexico, announced Attorney General Merrick B. Garland.

JTFA, a collaborative effort between the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security, has led to more than 300 arrests, 240 convictions across the United States, and 170 defendants convicted. The task force also seized significant assets, including cash, real estate, vehicles, firearms, ammunition and drugs.
