Gun, drug seizure leads to arrests of Bristol and Plymouth County men – Fall River Reporter

EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Michael Jenkins reports the East Bridgewater Police Department arrested two individuals on drug and gun charges over the weekend.

On Saturday, shortly after 3:30 p.m., East Bridgewater Police officers conducting routine patrol in the area of ​​604 Bedford Street observed a black Volkswagen sedan traveling northbound without an inspection sticker. As officers followed the vehicle, it made an abrupt turn onto Carriage Crossing Plaza and headed toward the East Bridgewater Cinemas. Officers activated their blue lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

The vehicle pulled into a parking space and the front passenger exited the vehicle. The officers ordered the passenger to remain in the vehicle, and the passenger complied. Officers determined that the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Kyle Conward, 20, of Mansfield, did not have a driver’s license, the vehicle was uninsured and the license plates belonged to another vehicle. Officers placed Conward under arrest.

Officers noted that the passenger, later identified as Kelvin Cardoso, 22, of East Bridgewater, was the subject of active felony warrants from another court. Officers then also placed Cardoso under arrest.

Officers searched the vehicle and found a loaded firearm in the glove compartment. Neither Conward nor Cardoso have a firearm license or firearm identification card. Officers also seized a clear bag containing 11 foil packets containing marijuana.

Conward and Cardoso were transported to the East Bridgewater Police Department for booking.

Conward was arrested and charged with possession of a class D substance with intent to distribute (marijuana over 60 grams), carrying a firearm without a license, license plate violation to conceal identity of a vehicle, possession of ammunition without FID and driving a motor. Driving without a license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, possessing a firearm without a serial number and carrying a loaded firearm without a LTC/FID.

Cardoso was arrested and charged with carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm without a serial number, possession of ammunition without FID, and carrying a loaded firearm without LTC/FID.

Both individuals were arraigned Monday morning in Brockton District Court.
