Marion man charged with armed robbery

A Marion man was arrested Monday on charges of robbing a Marion gas station at gunpoint in May.

Jamey Lee Heil, 26, is charged with robbery. According to a criminal complaint, he went to the Kum & Go at 1203 Blairs Ferry Road on May 25 and demanded at gunpoint that an employee give him all of the store’s money. The employee gave him the money.

Investigators identified the car Heil used in the robbery and identified Heil as the driver using video surveillance footage. A search warrant was executed at Heil’s home, where police found additional items he had used in the robbery, according to a news release from the Marion Police Department.

When Heil spoke with police about the theft, he said, “I made a huge mistake,” according to the complaint.
