Benjamin Sesko ‘close to REJECT Arsenal and sign improved deal at RB Leipzig’ – but striker has unwritten deal to leave in future

Benjamin Sesko has chosen to stay at RB Leipzig despite interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 21-year-old had attracted strong interest from the Gunners and Blues, who looked set to fight for his signature.

Mikel Arteta’s side are looking to improve their attacking line this summer in a bid to challenge for the Premier League again next season.

However, despite calls from the Premier League, Sesko will not be their man. The talented striker is expected to put pen to paper on an improved deal at Leipzig.

Alongside the new contract, Sesko and the Bundesliga side have reportedly reached an unwritten agreement for the striker to leave in the future.

The news will come as a blow to Mikel Arteta who was heavily linked with the 21-year-old.

Sesko only arrived in Germany last summer after a four-year spell at Red Bull Salzburg, Leipzig’s sister club.

After a slow start to life in the Bundesliga, the Slovenian striker broke out in the second half of last season, scoring 18 goals in all competitions.

He scored seven games in a row to close out the Bundesliga season which attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs, with Manchester United also sniffing around.

But the news is a bigger blow to Arsenal, who took the lead in bringing Sesko to the Emirates.

With the Leipzig striker no longer looking for sale, the Gunners could turn their attention to Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres.

Another target for this position, among others, is Alexander Isak, but a deal to bring in the Newcastle United striker could prove difficult after his recent comments.
