Charlotte suspected of armed robbery, police chase stopped

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A suspect wanted in an armed robbery that led to a police chase has been arrested, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Shortly after noon, CMPD’s Real Time Crime Center located the vehicle of a suspect who had just committed an armed robbery in the 5700 block of North Graham Street.


Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect fled and initiated a vehicle pursuit.

At approximately 12:16 p.m., the suspect collided with a third-party vehicle at Hoskins Road and Rozzelles Ferry Road.

Despite the accident, the suspect did not stop and continued to escape the police.

The pursuit ended a few minutes later and the suspect was apprehended at I-85 and Brookshire Boulevard.

Suspect Robert Vaughn, 44, faces the following charges:

  • Armed robbery
  • Crime flee to escape
  • Hit and run crime

Vaughn was also wanted on several active warrants, including possession of a firearm by a felon.

The citizen in the vehicle struck by the suspect was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
