North Carolina man arrested after being accused of sending inappropriate photos to Lauderdale County child

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) says a cyber tip received on February 14 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) led to the arrest of ‘a man.

According to LCSO, the incident involved the child exploitation of a victim in Lauderdale County. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Dylan Smith, of Wilson County, North Carolina, was the suspect.

An interview with the victim confirmed that Dylan Smith was the suspect who sent inappropriate photos and videos to the child.

Based on evidence collected during the investigation, warrants for Smith’s arrest were issued.
issued for eleven counts of transmitting obscene material to a child and one count of online solicitation of a child.

Smith was arrested by the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina and extradited to Lauderdale County. He is currently being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center.
