Man accused of robbing Beloit businesses with notes in 2023 found guilty

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) – A man accused of robbing multiple businesses using tickets in 2023 has been found guilty, the Rock County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

David Gober, 62, was convicted in Rock County Circuit Court of financial institution robbery and armed robbery with threat of force/use of a dangerous weapon. Gober’s sentences are for 17 years in prison, followed by five years of extended probation.

The guilty verdict came nearly a year after Gober robbed a BMO Harris in Beloit on June 16, 2023, handing a teller a note saying, “Give me all your money.” I have a gun,” officials said.

The same day, Gober attempted to rob the Goodwin Hotel, also in Beloit, by passing a note to an employee saying, “I have a gun, and it’s a robbery, put all the money in my hand,” officials said.

The Rock County Prosecutor’s Office said it recognized the efforts of the Beloit Police Department in leading the investigation into Gober’s activities, as well as the courage of the victims and witnesses for their assistance in the investigation.
