Kaduna State -The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly constituted a team to investigate former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and some key members of his cabinet for alleged mismanagement of 423 billions of naira.

Legitime.ng reported that on Wednesday, June 5, the ad hoc committee of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, set up to investigate the El-Rufai administration, submitted its report.

The members of El-Rufai’s cabinet involved are the finance commissioners from May 29, 2015 to May 29, 2023; all Accountants General of the eight years of administration and chairmen of the Kaduna State Inland Revenue Service (KADIRS) from 2018 to 2023.

Others are all Managing Directors of Kaduna Market Development and Management Company Ltd from May 29, 2015 to May 29, 2023; and all Managing Directors of Kaduna Roads Agency (KADRA) from October 11, 2017 to November 2021 except Amina Ja’afar Ladan, an engineer who only spent one month in office.

According to The Nation, a top EFCC source said El-Rufai would soon be invited by the anti-graft agency for questioning.

The EFCC source said:

“We receive a petition from an NGO. We have therefore opened an investigation into the issues raised in the petition.

“The report of the ad hoc committee of the Kaduna State House of Assembly is also useful. We will soon invite el-Rufai and some members of his team for questioning.

“The Special Working Group held a lengthy session on Monday (yesterday) on the contents of the petition and the report of the ad hoc committee.”

“The Legislature’s report actually laid a solid foundation for our team’s investigation. »

El-Rufai reacts as State Assembly approves investigation

Legitime.ng El-Rufai had earlier reported that he had served with integrity while reacting to the report that recommended his investigation.

The former governor said he was proud of his professional career.

El-Rufai expressed disgust at the display of shame shown by the National Assembly during the ad hoc committee session. He urged everyone not to view the so-called investigative moves as a politically motivated witch hunt that will fail.
