The South-East among the most affected by human trafficking – NAPTIP

Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Fatima Waziri-Azi, says the South East ranks among the regions with the highest human trafficking offenses. high in the country.

She said this yesterday while opening a one-day workshop organized in Enugu by the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) in partnership with NAPTIP.

Waziri-Azi, represented by Director of Research and Program Development Josiah Emerole, said the essence of the workshop was to validate the baseline report carried out by NAPTIP and ICMPD for the project of advocacy.

The ICMPD is an intergovernmental organization headquartered in Vienna, Austria, with 20 member states.

She said the project was carried out in the five states of Enugu, Edo, Delta, Benue and Ogun. Waziri-Azi said Enugu was chosen as one of the pilot states because of the high rate of human trafficking in the area.
