Player says it’s an ‘extremely private decision’ to reject West Ham – Clues he’ll one day explain

Flamengo’s Fabrício Bruno has told Globo Esporte that it was a personal decision to reject West Ham United’s offer.

On 28 May, Brazilian journalist Venê Casagrande stated that West Ham had reached an agreement with Flamengo to sign the defender for €13.5 million plus bonuses. The Hammers were unable to complete this deal due to no agreement with the centre-back.

Two days later, Globo Esporte claimed that the offer offered by West Ham was not much higher than his current salary at the Brazilian club. His current contract lasts until December 2028, and the Premier League offer was until the summer of 2028.

Earlier this month, Flamengo vice-president Marcos Braz revealed that the 28-year-old wanted to move to England, but the transfer fell through as he was unable to agree a deal with West Ham.

Flamengo qualified for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and Globo asked Bruno if playing in that tournament convinced him to turn down the Premier League offer. In response to this, he refused to reveal the reason.

“This is an extremely private decision, there will be the right time to talk about it. What I would like to make clear is that I am extremely happy here and that I will continue to work for my club. he said.

Meanwhile, Julen Lopetegui’s side have already started looking elsewhere to strengthen their defense in the summer window.
