The arrest follows a previous raid by police from Thu Duc town to Masteri Thao Dien after detecting suspicious signs.

They found Yang and his unidentified girlfriend under the influence of drugs during a raid on their 16th floor apartment.

They also found three plastic bags containing drugs, tablets suspected to be synthetic drugs and various drug paraphernalia.

It is unclear how much or what types of drugs they seized.

Yang admitted to renting the apartment, buying drugs and inviting his girlfriend to use them.

According to HCMC police, criminal groups have recently started renting luxury apartments to allow guests to use drugs and other illegal activities because of the privacy and security they offer.

They plan to increase surveillance of these places to prevent illegal activities.
