A drug-free world and the Church of Scientology in Denmark aim to “win the race” for a drug-free country

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, June 11, 2024 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — As a record number of people, including Denmark’s King Frederik, Queen Mary and their family, ran through the heart of Copenhagen in May during the annual Royal Race of city, drug-free volunteers from the Church of Scientology Denmark encouraged them while promoting active, drug-free living. They distributed thousands of factual educational booklets about the truth about drugs to riders and fans.

The volunteers were enthusiastic about the results obtained that day.

“We have had so much positive feedback,” said the campaign coordinator. “We gave a booklet to a teacher, who came back to speak to the volunteer and asked for 50 copies to give to her teenage students. Two others stopped their car to ask volunteers for booklets to give to their drug-using friends. Parents took the booklets and immediately began reading them to their children. Many people have come to thank us for what we do. There were stories like this all day long.

Although Denmark has fewer drug problems than many European countries, according to the European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), young people across the continent “now have access to an increasingly wide range of substances and consume them in combination with alcohol. .” What else, Euronews reports that Danish teenagers as young as 12 are experimenting with and becoming addicted to highly addictive and dangerous painkillers.

Drug-free world volunteers “race” to reach young people before dealers. Young people who are informed about drugs are much more likely not to use them. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, UNODC, states: “For every dollar spent on prevention, at least ten dollars can be saved in future health, social and crime costs. »

Noting the role that drug addiction plays in the disintegration of the social fabric, Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote: “Research has demonstrated that the most destructive element present in our culture today is drugs. »

The Foundation for a Drug-Free World was established in 2006 to serve as the primary distributor of educational materials and to develop new materials to meet the challenge of ever-changing drug trends. The Foundation has grown to become a network of some 200 chapters around the world. With the support of the Church of Scientology and Scientologists, it offers the secular program and The Truth About Drugs materials free of charge to anyone who wants to take action to solve this urgent problem.
