Drug possession
• Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) arrested a 35-year-old man on June 3 for possession of drugs with intent to sell.

According to BFS spokesperson Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, information was received that the suspect was selling drugs at Tswelopele, Station 8, Ivory Park.

“Upon arrival at the address at 4 p.m., the suspect matching the description was located and searched,” he said.

“He was found in possession of five packets of methamphetamine and five half-pills of Mandrax.”

• While carrying out routine patrols on June 6 at 9:30 p.m., BFS officers stopped a Nissan Qashqai on the corners of Heald and Muthimunye Streets, Daveyton, after seeing it driving recklessly.

“A search of the vehicle and its three occupants was carried out and four packets of crushed Rohypnol, eight packets of dagga, 13 packets of methamphetamine, six packets of heroin and one Mandrax tablet were discovered,” Giblin said.

“The men aged between 31 and 40 were immediately arrested on charges of possession of drugs with intent to sell. An additional charge of corruption was brought against them when they offered the officers R8,000 in exchange for their release.

Shoplifting
Two suspects, aged 22 and 34, were arrested at Pick n Pay at Lakeside Mall on June 8.

The two men allegedly attempted to steal clothes, meat and other items.

Rapid Response Services (RRS)
RRS members, including the Flying Squad, K9 units and Highway Patrol across Gauteng, arrested 114 suspects, from May 31 to June 6.

Sixty-five arrests were made for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery, theft, possession of suspected stolen property, domestic violence, pointing a firearm, burglary of a business, larceny display, bribery and house burglary.

Concentrated operations further led to the arrest of 14 suspects accused of possession of stolen vehicles, and 47 hijacked and stolen vehicles were recovered.

Four unlicensed firearms were also recovered and four suspects face possession charges.

Further policing led to the arrest of 31 suspects accused of possessing drugs with intent to sell.

Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and methamphetamine were confiscated.

Vehicles recovered
Five abandoned vehicles were recovered.

• A blue Toyota Hilux GD6 was found on Modderfontein Road, President Park. It was reported stolen from Naledi.

• A white Toyota Quantum was found at Ehlanzeni Hostel, Thembisa. It was diverted to Johannesburg.

• An orange Toyota Yaris was found in Katlehong. It was reported stolen from Brackenhurst.

• A Kia Cerato was found at Ehlanzeni Hostel, Thembisa. It was allegedly diverted to Thembisa. The owner of the vehicle was shot and killed during the incident.

• A white Toyota Fortuner was found in Springs. She was taken during a business robbery in the same neighborhood.
