Nine shoplifting incidents reported – Evanston Now

Shoplifters hit stores in various locations around Evanston over the weekend.

Food was taken from the 7-Eleven on Dodge, clothes and shoes from the Target on Howard, food and alcohol from the Jewel-Osco store on Howard and a supermarket in the 1600 block of Chicago Avenue .

Food was taken from the Valle Produce on Dempster, merchandise from the 7-Eleven on Emerson, food and hygiene products in two separate incidents from the CVS on Asbury, and a Bluetooth headset from the Mobil gas station on Chicago Ave.

The thieves broke the locks to take bikes taken from racks in the 1000 block of Grove, at the intersection of Church and Sherman, the 1700 block of Sherman and the 1600 block of Foster.

A would-be burglar damaged the lock on the back door of Asbury’s new south end recreation center.

An unattended laptop was stolen from a sidewalk in the 1600 block of Sherman.

Catalytic converters were removed from cars at Lincoln Street and Sheridan Road and the 800 block of Lincoln.

Police charged a 61-year-old Elgin woman with domestic battery and a 27-year-old Cedar Falls, Iowa, man with battery.
