East Bridgewater police arrest two on drug and gun charges

EAST BRIDGEWATER — Two men were arrested on drug and firearms charges after a traffic stop over the weekend, East Bridgewater Police Chief Michael Jenkins said.

Kyle Conward, 20, of Mansfield, and Kelvin Cardoso, 22, of East Bridgewater, face multiple charges after police found a loaded firearm and marijuana in their vehicle.

The incident occurred on Saturday, June 8, at 3:31 p.m., when officers spotted a black Volkswagen sedan without an inspection sticker on Bedford Street.

After making a sharp turn towards a shopping center, the vehicle was stopped by police.

Conward, the driver, was arrested after officers discovered he was driving without a license, the vehicle was not insured and the plates did not match those on the vehicle.

Cardoso, the passenger, had active felony warrants and was also placed under arrest.

A loaded firearm was found in the glove compartment, and both men were charged with, among other things, carrying a firearm without a license.

Officers also seized marijuana wrapped in aluminum foil.

Conward and Cardoso were booked into the East Bridgewater Police Department and arraigned Monday morning in Brockton District Court.
