A 12-year-old boy was arrested for assault Sunday after he and a group of children allegedly threatened a victim with a knife, Boston police reported Monday.

Sunday after 6 p.m., officers responded to reports of a person with a knife around Washington Street and Chilcott Street in Roxbury, BPD said. The report describes five juveniles allegedly threatening a victim with a knife in the area.

At the scene, officers canvassed the area and found a group matching the description near Montebello Street and Haverford Street, Boston police said. Officers said they searched a subject and found a knife on him.

The 12-year-old male was arrested and charged with delinquency and assault with a dangerous weapon. BPD has not reported any charges against the other four.

The boy is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.

Also Sunday, Boston police reported a firearm was recovered after suspects fled a traffic stop and crashed their vehicle in Mattapan.

The suspects were first spotted by police stopping “abruptly and improperly” in a no-parking zone without turn signals in an Infiniti sedan on Talbot Ave in the early hours of Sunday, BPD reported.

Officers said they stopped the car to conduct a traffic stop and saw three men inside upon further inspection.

The officers “quickly encountered several obstacles,” police said, including a passenger getting out of the vehicle to block them and shout at them. The officers approached the vehicle and began speaking to the driver, but he became “confrontational.”

The operators attempted to leave and flee with the officers’ upper bodies inside the car, BPD said. The police officer reportedly got out quickly and was not injured.

The car’s two other passengers did not get far before crashing into another parked car, police said. Cops said they chased the two men but lost visual of the suspects.

Around 2:30 a.m., police said they were canvassing the area for the suspects when they found a gun in the area where the suspects were last seen.

The weapon was a Smith & Wesson 9 Compact with one 9mm round in the chamber and seven 9mm rounds in the magazine, BPD reported.
