Kawempe businessman found dead in Masindi Port guesthouse

Masindi Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Kampala-based businessman at Masindi Port Guest House.


Pastori Baryarugabu, 55, resided in Kawempe in Kampala. His lifeless body was found on Sunday morning in the toilet of the guest house.

Baryarugabu went to Masindi on Saturday evening to supply his customers with mineral water. He reportedly booked a room at Masindi Port Guest House around 7 p.m. The guest house management became suspicious when he did not wake up on Sunday morning.

Everlyne Asaba, the manager of the guesthouse, told URN in an interview that they were forced to check on Byarugaba, only to find him dead in the bathroom. Asaba immediately alerted the police, who began investigating the matter.

Julius Hakiza, Albertine region police spokesperson, confirmed the incident, saying police rushed to the crime scene and transported the body to Masindi General Hospital, where it is currently waiting. an autopsy.

Hakiza also mentioned that the hotel manager had already recorded a statement with the police and arrangements were being made to contact the family of the deceased.

In April 2022, Indian businessman Mike Sultan, 40, was found dead at the Kasonga Guest House in the neighboring Kikuube district.
