Bronx family demands justice for man killed in conflict with migrant

THE BRONX, NY (PIX11) — The family of a Bronx man is speaking out in hopes of seeking justice after a deadly chance encounter between their loved one, Justin Lawless, and his girlfriend, Claretha Daniels, a migrant from Venezuela.

Police said after an argument, Josue Silva shot the couple in cold blood. Another victim was also shot but survived.

Given Silvia’s criminal history, Lawless’ sister said the city should do a better job of handling the migrant crisis.

“Mere words should never cause a death as brutal as it was,” she said.

Lawless was the father of three young children, loved by many.

The suspect, Silva, has been arrested at least six times previously, including on gun charges, but has not yet been arrested for this crime.
