Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

Balram Bheodari leads Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the most efficient airport in North America, with a deep knowledge and keen focus on aviation efficiency that has enabled the airport to thrive in the most challenging markets. Bheodari combines operational expertise, integrity and selflessness to deliver quality leadership throughout Atlanta Airport. He oversees all facets of airport governance, including operations and a multi-billion dollar capital improvement program, ATLNext, designed to pave the way for Atlanta’s growth over the next 20 years. During COVID-19, Bheodari developed a comprehensive operations recovery playbook that has been used to support ATL’s recovery efforts. With guidance from the Federal Aviation Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) amid evolving health and safety guidelines, Bheodari has consistently encouraged collaboration among stakeholders, teamwork among aviation employees, and adaptability in uncertain times. Throughout the pandemic, he has participated in daily calls with Airports Council International and other major airports to share best practices as well as information from federal offices in Washington, D.C. and the CDC.

His goal was to restore customer confidence and ensure the airport was a healthy facility using COVID-19 safety protocols. The airport has since been voted Airport of the Year by the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC).

During the height of the pandemic, Bheodari was the strongest supporter of our mission-critical employees. Having risen through the ranks, he fully appreciates the often thankless work these employees do to keep the airport safe and running at peak performance at all times. Morale never wavered because Bheodari made sure these employees felt valued by providing hazard pay, special meals, social media posts, intranet highlights and other incentives.

His actions and directives all reflect his commitment to the three key areas of our organization’s strategic plan: people, purpose and performance.
