Lakeshore seeks proposals for Lakeview Pier redevelopment, Lakeshore Spark project

The Municipality of Lakeshore is seeking proposals for the redevelopment of the Belle River Pier and Marina facilities, called the Lakeshore Spark project.

At Tuesday night’s meeting, the council amended and approved the Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEOI). RFEOIs seek proposals from innovative and community-minded developers, according to a news release.

“The proposals submitted under the RFEOI must be designed to serve as economic drivers and catalysts for additional investment, as well as to generally enhance the marina, park and beach as a destination for residents and visitors,” the municipality said.

The partnership aims to find sustainable and cost-effective solutions to improve the facilities and contribute to the vibrancy and sense of place of the waterfront. It would also allow Lakeshore to retain its ownership of the facilities.

“This is the first step in a conversation about how we can invest in this incredible destination, a jewel of Lake St. Clair, while facing significant financial pressures,” said Mayor Tracey Bailey.

“We are looking to see what kind of interest there is, what ideas a partner can bring, big or small, to help us improve this destination.”

Applications for the RFEOI will be accepted until September 27. Successful proposals will be scored against the RFEOI criteria and then presented to the board for further deliberation.

“There is no wrong answer here and we are excited to see what kind of creativity and innovation can be uncovered through this process,” Bailey said.

You can submit your proposals through Lakeshore’s online tendering system, Submissions and Tenders, or by email to [email protected].
