Bangor man sentenced to 2 years in prison for illegal gun purchase

A Bangor man was sentenced today in federal court in Boston to two years in prison followed by three years of supervised release for illegally purchasing firearms for a Massachusetts man.

Traveyon Richardson, 26, of Bangor, Maine, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to purchase firearms through intermediaries and one count of firearms trafficking. He was indicted in July 2023 along with Breon Stroup, of Fall River, Massachusetts, for whom Richardson purchased the guns.

On Sept. 26, 2022, Richardson sent Stroup a message via Snapchat containing a link to handguns available for purchase at Maine Military Supply in Holden. Stroup responded with links to two of the guns, a silver Ruger Wrangler and a Taurus Model G3C, and offered to send $650 if Richardson could purchase them, according to the indictment.
