Oshawa man charged with child luring, pornography


Durham Police have arrested a man following an investigation into child pornography and luring.

On June 2, police received information about a man possibly involved in child pornography and child luring.

They claim he had sexually explicit conversations and sent explicit photos to what he believed to be a 12-year-old girl using the social media platform “Meet24” with the username “Robert.”

Police say he tried to arrange a meeting with the girl so they could have sex.

On Wednesday, he was arrested at his home in Oshawa.

Randall Robert Vipond, 60, of Oshawa, is charged with: possession of child pornography, making child pornography available, making sexually explicit material available to a person under 18, making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16, luring a person under 16 to facilitate sexual assault, luring a person under 16 to facilitate sexual touching and luring to make child pornography.

Police fear there may be more victims.
