Four people of Telugu origin arrested in US

Hyderabad/Princeton: At least four people from Telugu state have been arrested by the Princeton police in Texas, US, after the cops found 15 adult women during the raids and many other men were found as victims of bonded labour at various locations.

The defendants are Santhosh Katkoori, Dwaraka Gunda, Chandan Dasireddy and Anil Male and have been charged with human trafficking, a second-degree felony. Princeton police officers were dispatched to a residence on Ginsburg Lane in March for suspicious circumstances and the young women were found in squalid conditions, with most of them sleeping on the floor. The investigation began when a pest control company, which had gone to the home to check for bedbugs, notified police after finding the women in squalid conditions.

Investigation into the case revealed that many of the trafficked women were forced to work for Santhosh and his wife Dwaraka Gunda. Many laptops, mobile phones, fraudulent documents and printers were seized during the execution of search warrants.

Later in the investigation, it was discovered that adult men were also being subjected to forced labor at several other locations, including McKinney, Melissa and Princeton.

Further investigation revealed that the victims were employed as programmers.

Dwaraka Gunda was arrested in March while Chandan Dasireddy was arrested in June.
