Court rejects AAP leader Satyendar Jain’s bail plea | India News

NEW DELHI: A court on Tuesday rejected the plea of senior AAP leader Satyendar Jain, an accused in a money laundering case, seeking four weeks of interim bail to take care of his injured wife and ailing daughter. According to Mr Jain’s plea, his wife Poonam Jain, also an accused in the case, has fractured her right foot, which requires “constant personal attention and care”. The court said their younger daughter also suffers from certain ailments and needs continuous care.

“The petitioner’s wife (Jain), apart from taking care of herself and managing other affairs, is also unable, due to her present circumstances, to take care of her younger daughter. There is no one else in the family to support her as the other daughter is married, living in the matrimonial home and has a 7-month-old child to support,” the petition said.

On May 30, 2022, the ED had arrested Jain, a former minister in the Arvind Kejriwal government, on charges of money laundering through four companies allegedly linked to him.

Jain was arrested on the basis of a CBI FIR registered against him in 2017 under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
