HR&CE department reclaims Rs 3 crore temple land in Tiruvarur

TIRUCHÉ:Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department officials on Tuesday recovered a temple land worth Rs 3 crore in Tiruvarur from a person who was in illegal possession of it.

According to reports, it was said that an area of ​​6,000 sq. ft. of land belonging to Vijayapuram Arulmigu Kabileshwarar temple located at Vazhavaical in Tiruvarur-Nagapattinam bypass was encroached upon by a person and he was enjoying the same for several years.

When the HR&CE officials of Tiruvarur checked the temple lands across the district, they found that a particular piece of land belonged to the temple.

Soon they began taking steps to reclaim the land.

Subsequently, Deputy Commissioner Kumaresan, Assistant Commissioner Ramu, Special Tahsildhar Lakshmi Praba and Executive Director of the temple Shanmugaraj reached the spot and removed the encroachment.

Subsequently, the HR&CE took possession of the land and put up a notice board stating that the land belonged to the temple.

The notice also warned that legal action would be taken against the invaders.
