Quinton Tyrone Jones, 19, pleaded guilty July 8 to first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Two other charges (armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon) were dropped as part of Jones’ plea agreement.

He will serve 11 years on the first charge and three years on the second, with both sentences running consecutively.

Court documents show Jones was linked to a robbery at a Kum & Go in the 2900 block of E. Division Street in May 2023. A man armed with a shotgun and wearing a mask demanded money and drove off in a stolen Honda Pilot. The car was later found wrecked and abandoned.

Days later, Springfield police were called to a domestic assault at a home where Jones lived and heard Jones bragging about committing a robbery.
