UNODC Regional Representative for Central Asia completes mission

Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Muzaffar Madrakhimov met with the regional representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Central Asia Ashita Mittal, who is completing her diplomatic mission.

According to the MFA, during the meeting the parties highly appreciated the level of interaction established between Uzbekistan and UNODC, separately highlighting the areas of combating threats related to trafficking and consumption of illegal drugs, organized crime, human trafficking and international terrorism.

During the conversation, Ashita Mittal’s contribution to strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNODC, as well as efforts to develop the department’s project activities, were noted.

In turn, Ashita Mittal stressed her sincere gratitude to the government of Uzbekistan for the support it provided to her activities.

It is worth recalling that Ashita Mittal was heading the UNODC regional office in June 2014.
