Student’s remains found in sewer

The management of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has expressed shock over the discovery of the lifeless body of a first-year student, Okenyi Favour Oluchukwu, in a drain in the school premises.

The remains of Oluchukwu, enrolled in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, were reportedly found inside the drainage, near the Akanu Ibiam Stadium, last Friday.

The circumstances of his death are still unclear. However, the management of the establishment indicated that it was already working with security agencies and the family.

The school’s acting public relations officer, Okun Omeaku, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the university community was in mourning.

He said: “Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased, Okenyi Favour Oluchukwu, was a first year student enrolled in our Department of Medical Laboratory Science.

“The administration is deeply saddened by the loss of our student and extends its sincere condolences to the deceased’s family for the tragic passing of such a promising young student.

The management is collaborating with security agencies and the family of the deceased to uncover the circumstances surrounding her death and prevent any recurrence of such incidents in the future. Omeaku implored anyone with useful information that could assist in the investigation to kindly contact the administration.
